The City of Windsor is looking to spend $500,000 to repave and repair a small stretch of Ottawa Street.
Work would include repaving the roadway between Windermere and Gladstone including watermain replacement, sewer repair, curb and median island repair and sidewalk replacement.
Administrators at the Ottawa Street Business Improvement Area however are hoping the City would recommend spending an amount of more than $1 million to completely redo the street in one shot.
The City however says that a full makeover of Ottawa Street was not a priority in the City’s five year capital plan, but the decision to find the funding ultimately lies with City Council.
Should City Council vote to go ahead with full streetscaping and makeovers to Ottawa Street, City Administrators recommend undertaking the work in phases. The cost to completely redo each block on Ottawa Street would be approximately $357,000.
City Council meets next week to discuss this project.
