Windsor firefighters are wrapping up from extinguishing a fire in the basement of a home in the 2100 block of Church Street.
Shortly after 7pm, fire crews were called to the house when a neighbour noticed heavy smoke coming out of the front door.
Fire crews arrived and located a couch on fire in the basement and promptly extinguished it. One person, a man in his mid 40s was taken to the hospital with moderate smoke inhalation.
The fire did not spread to the rest of the house but firefighters had to break the basement windows to provide ventilation. Windsor Fire officials investigated and determined that careless smoking caused the couch to catch fire.
