Parking Services at the University of Windsor is proposing increases for parking permits for the 2012/2013 academic school year.

The proposed increase which went before the Board of Governors meeting Tuesday night is 5% accords the board.

The new rates would be for Faculty and Staff lots:
Remote Lots – $444.96 an increase of $21.36
Core Lots – $547.08 an increase of $26.04
Premium Lots – $567.16 an increase of $27.12

The new rates would be for students:
For an eight month pass – $274.16 an increase of $13.12
For a twelve month pass – $328.32 an increase of $15.48

The University says these new rates will continue to keep them below the median rate for parking compared to other Ontario universities.

Parking at the University of Windsor is expected to be tight come the fall, with the large parking lot at the corner of Wyandotte and Sunset to be closed for the construction of a new parking garage.

Parking Services says that in preparation of the opening of the new parking structure they will be doing a comprehensive review of the entire campus parking program. This will include a needs’ assessment of all faculty, staff and student parking needs and looking at a new pricing model.
