Windsor police continue to investigate after a vicious robbery late last night in the 1300 block of Church Street.

Police say that the victim had just arrived home from work at approximately 11:30pm, and drove his vehicle to the driveway behind his residence which is located off the alley. The victim said that he saw two men walking northbound in the alley prior to parking his vehicle, and as he pulled into his driveway and began to exit the vehicle, the victim was struck in the face by one of the males he had observed seconds earlier.

The victim was pushed back into his car by one suspect and the second suspect opened the passenger door of the vehicle and began striking the victim. The suspects demanded that the victim hand over all his money and his wallet during the assault. An unknown type of edged weapon was used to strike the victim in the face several times causing the victim’s injuries. The weapon has not been recovered at the time of this writing.

The victim attempted to flee from the vehicle and ran toward the house but fell and was kicked and punched several more times by the suspects before they fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. The victim lost his wallet and a quantity of cash as a result of the robbery.

When police arrived they found the 52-year-old male victim seated on the front porch of the home bleeding profusely from a number of lacerations to his face. The victim was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where he was to undergo surgery this morning to repair his facial lacerations.

The suspects are described as two white males, both approximately 25 years of age. One was wearing a red hooded sweat shirt and the other was also wearing a hooded sweat shirt – colour unknown.

Investigators say they are exploring the possibility that the same suspects may be responsible for a similar style of robbery which occurred two days before on Tuesday in the 1100 block of Bruce Avenue where a 51-year-old male victim was assaulted and robbed of a quantity of cash and a cell phone as he exited his vehicle after arriving home.

Police ask anyone with any information regarding this robbery or the identity of the suspects is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519- 255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
