Over the next few weeks there are plenty of chances for Windsorites to take part in tree plantings to make Windsor a greener and healthier place to live. School children, Scouts, seniors, environmentalists and neighbours are all invited to take part!
“Our volunteers are the backbone to greening the urban forest and educating the public,” explains Bill Roesel, Manager of Horticulture and Forestry for the City of Windsor.
Events include the following:
Earth Day
April 22nd from 10am to 3pm
Malden Park
Free family activities with a focus on local food
Earth Day
April 22nd from 10am to 2pm
McHugh Park at Florence and McHugh St.
Tree planting, scavenger hunt, rain barrel sale
Scoutrees
Monday April 23rd to Thursday April 26th from 6 pm to dark
Scoutrees
East Riverside Park
Dr. David Suzuki School Planting
Friday April 27th from 9am to 2pm
6320 Raymond Windsor
School children volunteer to green their school. Rain date Monday, April 30
TreesOntario and CAA
Saturday May 5th from 10am to noon
Capt. John Wilson Park
Rain or shine. Please bring a shovel and wear your proper footwear.
Reginald Street Community Planting
May 99th from 9am to 2pm
Ford and Ferndale
Community including students from Coronation School plant trees in their neighbourhood. Rain date May 10.
