On behalf of Melanie Coulter and the Windsor Humane Society:
Earlier this evening Windsor City Council put the City’s proposed spay/ neuter voucher program back into the 2012 budget!
Final approval of the budget isn’t until next Monday’s meeting, but with the strong support for this motion from Council tonight we are very optimistic that it will move forward. Of course there are still details to finalize regarding how the program will work, so don’t line up at City Hall yet to get a voucher, but we will assist City staff as much as possible to get this program up and running quickly as soon as the final budget passes.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of you who contacted your Councillor to ask them to support this program. Your calls, letters, and emails made a difference! We also extend our thanks to all the Councillors who supported this desperately-needed program!
With our new veterinary clinic which is already making a difference (more than 1,000 surgeries have been done in the few months since the doors opened!) and now this program to also increase access to spay/neuter in our community we look forward to finally reaching our goal of a community with homes for every pet who needs one.
Thank you for caring!
