This Saturday, January 14th at FM Lounge (156 Chatham St. W, main level) a local production company will be filming a portion of their upcoming documentary 4 on the Floor.
The idea behind the project is that music is a universal language, and it is not necessary for players to even know each other in order to create some.
On Saturday at 9 pm, four musicians who have never played together before will take the stage to perform a half hour improvised blues set. The music and the performance will be filmed and recorded live, in one take. Community members are invited to come out for this free event and will have the chance to be included in the documentary as a member of the audience.
But this performance is only a section of the documentary. There will be opportunity for other local artist to be a part of it as well. Producers are reaching out to the Windsor music scene, giving the chance for performers to submit video, audio, and photographic representation of their music and performances for possible inclusion. In addition, various members of the city’s diverse music community will be interviewed as part of the production process.
For more information, follow 4 on the Floor on Facebook and Twitter, and tune into CJAM 99.1 FM on Wednesday between 5 and 6:30 pm when members of the production crew will be discussing the project.
