The Windsor International Airport presented a cheque totaling $1,666.85 to the John McGivney Children’s Centre after a successful first annual ‘Summer Sizzle Barbeque’ campaign. Station managers Greg Lang of WestJet, Joan Dunn of Air Canada and the staff of Your Quick Gateway (Windsor) Inc. organized and hosted weekly barbeques for the Airport community from June to October this past summer.
All sale proceeds of food and beverage from the summer campaign will be given to the Children’s Centre in which the funds will go directly to kids for the Toy Lending Library program.
“WestJet cares for kids and during the holidays, it is important to give back to the community” said Greg Lang of WestJet. The entire airport community, from airline staff, CATSA security personnel, YQG employees, taxi drivers, etc. contributed each week by coming out to enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers in the name of charity. President and CEO of Your Quick Gateway (Windsor) Inc., Federica Nazzani, remarked that the campaign’s success is a result of the enthusiastic and generous support of the Airport community.
“Children have always been an important part of the Air Canada family and it is a privilege to give to the McGivney Centre especially at this time of year” said Joan Dunn of Air Canada. For its donation, the McGivney Centre’s Director of Development, Ilona Schentag stated that “We are always overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the community”.
