Windsor Police are investigating after a lone suspect attempted to rob a Walkerville area convenience store in the 1300 block of Walker Road early just before 4:00 this morning.

The 22 year old store clerk told police that a lone male had entered the store and approached the counter.  The suspect, who was dressed in a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, advised the clerk that he had a gun and demanded the money from the till.  The clerk advised the suspect that he wasn’t able to open the till without a key.  The suspect then demanded the clerk’s money.  The clerk then opened his wallet and showed the suspect that he had none.  After hearing this, the suspect left the store empty handed and fled on foot northbound on Walker Road.

The clerk advised officers that he did not see a gun although the suspect threatened that he had one.  The suspect kept one hand in a front pouch of his sweatshirt.  The clerk was not physically injured during the incident.

Windsor Police are requesting that anyone with any information regarding this crime or the identity of the suspect to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’9″, 170 lbs, with a short grey beard.  He was wearing a teal coloured hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
