The “Friends of Don Sadler” group in collaboration with the Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU) and the Essex Region Conservation Foundation (ERCF) is honouring Don Sadler, retiring City of Windsor Director of Parks.  The Sadler Family Endowment Fund will be officially announced at his retirement dinner on Thursday, November 10th.

From Greening the Riverfront, to the Million Trees Program, Don has been instrumental in developing and preserving our community’s greenest areas since he first came to Windsor over 21 years ago.  His commitment to creating nature trails, wildlife preserves and other projects including enhancing of Ojibway Park and developing Malden Park earn Mr. Sadler the reputation of a stalwart defender of the environment.

Funds raised will be used to carry out the shared vision of Don Sadler and the Conservation Foundation: “To achieve a sustainable environment with healthy watersheds, highlighted by clean creeks, rivers, and Great Lakes, thriving natural areas, productive agricultural lands; vibrant places.”

The Conservation Foundation has enthusiastically agreed to generously match any donation made by the community, dollar for dollar.  Special arrangements have been made with Windsor Family Credit Union to accept donations to the Endowment at any of their branches.

You can also contribute to the Endowment Fund by mailing your donation directly to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation located at 360 Fairview Avenue West, Suite 311 in Essex.

Cheques should be made payable to the “Sadler Family Endowment Fund”. Donations of twenty dollars or more will receive a tax receipt.

Celebrating the initiation of this Endowment will commence on Thursday November 10th at the WFCU Centre (Gate 1, Centre Bowl). Tickets for the Dinner and reception are$25.00 and are available or a ticket can be purchased solely for the Mix & Mingle reception for $10.00, which takes place after the dinner.

You can purchase tickets at the City of Windsor Parks and Recreation main office located at 2450 McDougall Street.
