The phenomenon known as “black animal syndrome” is very familiar to staff at the Humane Society and at shelters across North America. The black cat or dog sits waiting for a home for days, weeks or, sometimes months, longer than their flashier-coloured counterparts. But, although her black coat will make her more difficult to photograph, and her face may be harder to make out, six-month-old Gale is hoping you’ll consider giving her a second glance as we close out “Back in Black” month at the Humane Society.
