As we told you back in April, the City of Windsor was looking at cleaning up the image of Wyandotte Street East. The Park’s Department had an original budget of three million for this make over, but a million dollars had been pulled from the east part of the road and will be put towards Wyandotte Street West by the University of Windsor.
Due to water main work that has to take place along the street, the proposed street scape will take much longer than originally hoped. Medians along Strabane to George will be the first to get made over, with other medians along the busy stretch to be re-landscaped through 2012 as water main work is complete. Median work will cost one million dollars total.
Also, one million will be spent on the Drouillard Road underpass. New railings, lighting and the installation of landscape features will bring this area up to the standards that are displayed at EC Row at Dougall and Howard. The proposed schedule is for this to be designed this summer, tendered in the fall with work to be undertaken in the Spring and summer of 2012.
This goes to Council Monday for final approval.
