Construction will begin soon on one of the busiest intersections for commuters in South Windsor.
Improvements to the intersection of Cabana and Provincial will see the roadway widened to four lanes in all directions. The addition of tuning lanes, medians, better timed left turn signals, and bike lanes will also help make traffic flow smoother.
Over recent years with the development of the big box retail area on Walker Road, this intersection has become quite heavily travelled, so much that the current infrastructure is no longer adequate.
Improvements to this intersection follow on work done in years past to Howard and Cabana and Dougall and Cabana. An environmental assessment is currently underway to widen Cabana between these intersections, but that has been held up for years both with complaints from residents who don’t want their road tuned into a highway, and also because of lack of money in the capital budget.
