2010 GECDSB Special Olympics Games

The GECDSB Special Olympic games were held Thursday at Essex District High School.
The games were dedicated to Barb Brooke Banks and her partner Rob who are retiring this year for over 25 years of service to the regional Special Olympics.
Athletes competed in various track events such as 100m, 200m and the 400m, as well as the field events of shot put, ball throw, standing long jump, and running long jump. Almost every public Secondary school in Essex County attended with a team.
The atmosphere was very positive and rewarding for all of the athletes. A big thanks goes out to all of the volunteers, Essex District High school, teachers and EA’s, parents and coaches for being so supportive of the athletes.
Congratulations to all those who competed.
