This morning players from the Riverside Minor Hockey Atom Major Travel Team were treated to a surprise visit from The Stanley Cup at The Riverfront Festival Plaza.
Windsor was chosen as one of ten stops for the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour, which brings a two-day hockey celebration to cities across Canada.
“We’ve got twenty-four events ranging all the way out east to all the way out west,” said Dave Wilson, District Vice President for Southwest Ontario Scotiabank. “We were in Montreal last week, and will be in Timmins next week.”
The excited young players had their photos taken with the cup, and afterwards went out into the Plaza grounds to enjoy different hockey-themed activities.
“We’re pretty happy about our hockey sponsorships,” said Wilson. “This year we’re sponsoring eight thousand teams across the country, and this is one of our teams today, so we’re really happy that we could do this.”
