Celebrations will take place next Saturday to honour Ruthven resident Meghan Agosta-Marciano of the Canadian Women’s Olympic Hockey team and Kingsville’s Corbin Watson who won a bronze medal for the men’s sledge hockey team at the Paralympics this year.
“We’re rolling out the red and white carpet for Ruthven’s golden girl and Kingsville’s sledge hockey hero,” says Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate a truly memorable experience for our local athletes and their medal winning performances in Sochi.”
The festivities kick off at 2pm with a “Red & White” parade along Kingsville’s Main Street, from Queen Street to Migration Hall adjacent to Kingsville District High School. The parade will culminate at Migration Hall, where a community meet and greet will take place from 3pm to 4:30pm.
The meet and greet will feature 3-time Olympic gold medallist Meghan Agosta Marciano along with World champion and Paralympic bronze medallist Corbin Watson where the public will have an opportunity for autograph signing and personal greetings.
Following the rally, a buffet dinner will be held at Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens, beginning at 5:30pm. This dinner will be a fundraiser, with proceeds to go to Meghan’s Foundation.
Tickets are available at the Kingsville Reporter Office in person or by calling 519-733-2211 Ext. 24, or 519-733-2305 Ext 313. Tickets are $25 each for adults or $10 each for children ages 4 to 12.
