This coming Saturday is national foursquare day (4² = 4/16 = April 16th). What’s foursquare? It’s only the world’s largest mobile geolocation app which lets you ‘check-in’ to locations and let your friends, family and colleagues know that you’re there. Foursquare is mostly a game and a way to accumulate points for check-ins, and ‘badges’ for accomplishing geographic tasks.

“There’s no doubt that social media is catching on and for us to partner up with a local business that’s so genuinely excited to take the next step, is a great sign for the future.” said Jessica Apolloni of Blab! Media, the Windsor social media firm organizing a local Foursquare event this Saturday.

Blab is inviting Windsorites out to Lakeshore Cinemas for a foursquare party on Saturday between 1 and 4pm, and a way to get the ‘swarm badge’ (see here for badge info).

“Foursquare users who check-in to Lakeshore Cinema between 1pm and 4pm will receive a special deal that includes admission to any matinee playing between 1pm and 4:30pm, a Pepsi product, and a small popcorn for just $6!”

You can find out more about Windsor/Essex’s Foursquare event here on Facebook.
