Top Ten: Your Fun Family Day Cheat List!

Family Day weekend is about family time and it should also be about fun! We’ve put together a Top Ten list of great family activities to take part in this Family Day in Windsor Essex. Use it as a checklist and celebrate the family while having fun, staying active, eating great and learning a bit along the way.
#1. SEAN KENNEY’S ANIMAL SUPER POWERS MADE WITH LEGO BRICKS
Sean Kenney’s Animal Super Powers Made with LEGO® Bricks, an exhibition featuring awe-inspiring sculptures made from LEGO® bricks, taking place at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing. Sean Kenney, Animal Super Powers showcases larger-than-life sculptures of creatures who have evolved to possess their very own “super powers” and invites guests to learn the science behind them. It’s a fun event that the whole family will enjoy! The exhibit is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Family Day. Entertainment includes sing-a-long music by DJ Jon, a show by Mad Science at 1:00 pm followed by Circus Guided Play and Acro Show from Velvet Edge Entertainment at 3:00 pm. Stop in to The Parlour Ice Cream Co. for a sweet treat to round out your day after!
#2. ADVENTURE BAY FAMILY WATER PARK
Spend your Family Day with Adventure Bay. The indoor water park has over 35,000 square feet of wild water adventures including thrilling water slides, exciting activities and fabulous family fun and will be open for a special Family Day 10th Birthday celebration on Monday February 19th with two time slots: 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm. Youcan the Toucan will be on hand for a birthday cake cutting at 10:30 a.m., and local celebrity mascots will also help celebrate as special guests. To celebrate, admission will be just $10 per person and tickets may be purchased online. Adventure Bay is also open every weekend – Saturday and Sunday – from 12pm – 4 pm. So, grab your bathing suit and your friends and head on over to the Bay where it’s always summer. All that swimming and sliding will have your family needing to refuel, so plan to swing by Whamburg to pick up smash burger combos for everyone!
Get your creative juices flowing and bring home a self-made pottery masterpiece to show for your hard work! SKETCH Clay+Pottery is for all ages and all skill levels and will have you feeling energized, inspired and more balanced.
#4. COLASANTI’S TROPICAL GARDEN
Spend the day exploring all that Colasanti’s Tropical Garden has to offer and take advantage of the Family Day deal: Exclusively on Family Day Weekend, purchase 4 Mini Golf Admissions, 4 Petting Farm Admissions, and 4 Donuts for $40+tax. Grab a bite to eat and donut forget the most delicious part of any visit to Colasanti’s – donuts and peach juice! There’s also a Sign Painting Workshop taking place on Saturday February 17th with Lisa from You Can Do It DIY Kits: check out the hands on workshop where you can customize and create your own painted sign.
#5. FREE SKATING AT LANSPEARY PARK
Head out for some FREE outdoor skating at the region’s best outdoor skating rink – bring the family and your skates (and maybe mittens) to enjoy skating from 1-3PM on Saturday February 17th at Lanspeary Park. Skate up an appetite and stroll down Ottawa Street to grab a burger from Mamo Burger. Not in the mood for a full meal? Pop in to Cafe Amor to warm up with a cozy beverage.
Windsor’s ultimate destination for FUN and we mean it! Big Time Entertainment boasts over 80 of the most popular arcade games, the only indoor GO-KART track in the city, Glo-Golf, Axe throwing, Dark Ride Theatre, Fowling, Laser Tag, and Pool tables. They also have a full food & cocktail menu that is sure to satisfy.
#7. FUN FRIDAYS AT DEVONSHIRE MALL
Kick off the Family Day weekend at Fun Friday at Devonshire Mall on Friday February 16th. Enjoy aerial acrobatics, character performances, face painting and more! Lollipop Lyra Atmospheric will perform in the food court from 4pm to 5pm. Grab a bite at the food court or head to Chick-Fil-A!
Cheer on the Windsor Spitfires as they take on the Soo Greyhounds during their Family Day/Mickey Renaud Night game. Sunday February 18th the puck drops at 4:05pm. Gather the whole family and make lasting memories on Family Day/Mickey Night! Share the joy of the game with loved ones as you combine the magic of hockey with the magic of family.
Celebrate Family Day with your family and the Express! Watch the Express tip-off against the KW Titans at 2pm at the WFCU Centre on Monday February 19th.
Free bowl tickets will be available from the WFCU Centre Box Office in-person only while they last on the following dates and times:

- Wednesday, February 14th: 11am – 8pm
- Saturday, February 17th: 9am – 2pm
- Sunday, February 18th: 11am – 6pm
- Monday, February 19th: 11am – 2pm

#10. CROSSROADS HISTORICAL GUIDE
Windsor Essex has a rich and storied history. To fully appreciate what makes us so unique today, we need to immerse ourselves in our past. The Windsor Essex regions hosts a diverse range of events to commemorate Black History Month. Use our CROSSROADS Historical Guide and visit stops like the Amherstburg Freedom Museum, Museum Windsor and Art Windsor Essex to learn more about our connection to and the pivotal role in the Underground Railroad. For Black History Month, the CROSSROADS Historical Guide will feature just-added stories highlighting the people, places and settlements that rose up from the journey of the Underground Railroad. After visiting the Amherstburg Freedom Museum, stop in to Armando’s Amherstburg for a hand-tossed Windsor-style pizza.
Explore the trails, parks and paths that are abundant in Windsor Essex. Head to Ojibway Park and see how many animals you can spot on your nature walk. Explore the LaSalle Trails systems and meander along the water and cross over a pirate bridge! Pick up a sweet treat and take in King’s Navy Yard Park in Amherstburg. Make an afternoon or a morning of hiking the Chrysler Canada Greenway throughout Essex. Explore Cedar Creek in Kingsville. Take it to the point at Point Pelee National Park. Check out Ruscom Shores Conservation Area in Lakeshore and have a February picnic at Lakewood Park in Tecumseh or explore the McAuliffe Woods Conservation Area. Enjoy the unique art and sculptures along Windsor’s Riverfront Sculpture Park.
