Ice cream has popped up in Ford City, with Ford City Scoops opening their doors this summer in the area.

The cute little shop is run and operated by Janine Kissner, a local to the area. She took note at the Dropped on Drouillard event last year after a survey was done to see what the residents of the area wanted to see with the continued revitalization happening. The consensus was: ice cream.

Janine not only agreed with this, but took it in her own hands to make it happen.

The store has already been enjoyed by many in the area, Janine explains “The area has been very supportive.”

The shop offers not only options for ice cream scoops, but also ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, banana splits and a variety of hot foods.

She hopes to bring in more people from near and far when they come to enjoy the Ford City area. As the shop grows, shes looking to give it more like a vintage ice cream store feel.

Janine is also looking to open a vintage-style candy store in the storefront next door in the future to go hand-in-hand with the ice cream shop.

Ford City Scoops serves up Canadian-made Chapman’s ice cream in a variety of flavours, including a sorbet for a lactose-free option.

Stop by Ford City Scoops at 1050 Drouillard Road. Visit their Facebook page here to keep up with their hours and what’s new.
