The Windsor Spitfires (15-11-0-1) were defeated last night at the WFCU Center by the Niagara IceDogs (16-7-2-1). Despite the Spits early 1-0 lead in the first period, the IceDogs were able to tie it just seconds later. With two goals (one on a powerplay scored by IceDog’s captain Agozzino) the IceDogs were up 3-1 heading into the second period.
Despite a second period goal by Khokhlachev, the Spits were unable to tie the game until five minutes left of the game. However the IceDog’s Strome was able to outmaneouver Windsor’s defence in the last two minutes of play and score two goals to bring the final score to 5-3 IceDogs.
The Spits take on the Peterborough Petes (6-18-1-1) and Oshawa Generals (15-6-2-2) on the road this weekend. Their next home game at the WFCU Center is Thursday where the Spits take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (10-14-4-0).
