Striking CUPE 1393 employees at the University of Windsor plan to help students beat this week’s heat wave on Wednesday.
“Throughout the day, we’ll be providing students with frozen fruit treats to help them stay cool while the University’s air conditioning is offline,” said Dean Roy, President of CUPE 1393.
The air condition to parts of campus has been down since the start of the week. The University said earlier on Tuesday that it planned to have it up and running by mid Wednesday afternoon. They blamed the problem on underground water chiller pipes.
Local 1393 members went on strike Sunday after talks broke off with the University.
