A new car share program at the University of Windsor launches with the start of the fall semester.
Windsor is just one of fifteen colleges and universities to host the new program powered by Discount Car rental.
The program is designed for students who live on or near campus, but do not have their own car. This program allows them to make trips to the mall or grocery store for a small fee without paying all the over head costs of owning your own car.
A Student CarShare membership costs $50 per year with a $25 application fee and $8 hourly rates which include gas & insurance. You must be 18 years and older, have a valid credit card, have a minimum valid G2 driver’s license and have had no more than one minor violation within three years.
Two cars are available as part of the program: a KIA Soul 5-door hatchback and a 4-door Rio. Both cars are parked in an employee parking lot on Sunset behind the Leddy Library.
For more information or to join the CarShare program, you can check out their website here.
