The Ambassador Bridge has made its biggest visual change since it was painted from black to blue in the 1990s.
Work crews spent the past week upgrading every light bulb from orange-glowing vapour bulbs to high efficiency, white, LED lights.
In 2012 the bridge replaced its 181 deck-level streetlights with LED bulbs. The conversion cut electrical costs by 73% and wattage consumption dropped from 199,100W to 54,300W.
The new look for the bridge results in a white and blue glow over the Detroit River.
