The University of Windsor will be embarking on a five year project to renovate the Biology Building, pending approval from the Board of Governors this week.
Phase one, to be completed this year is estimated to cost $1,400,000. It will include asbestos removal and HVAC modifications, work on the sub-basement level, as well as north-south corridor work on the first, second and third floors.
In the following four phases labs, office space and all other work areas will be renovated. One floor per year.
In all phases, work included the removal of existing ceilings, lighting and HVAC air distribution equipment and repleaced with new as well as painting.
In all phases, several labs and offices may be temporarily relocated to Essex Hall, where the Faculty of Engineering used to be or moved to other areas within the Biology Building to make the space available for the renovations. In Phase I, due to the nature of the work, selected labs and offices will be temporarily relocated within Essex Hall.
