The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is seeking information from the community about a serious case of animal cruelty.
At approximately 1:45am on Friday, April 26th, the Humane Society received a call about a dog chained to a fence. When their officer responded she found an extremely emaciated dog who she was able to free and bring to the Humane Society.
Humane Society veterinarian Dr. Aimee Seguin examined the dog, now named Wilson, and found him to be dangerously underweight. To be in that condition, the Humane Society says he would have had to have been fed little to no food in the weeks before he was found. The Humane Society says the dog is an unneutered male who appears to be a lab/chow mix about 3 years of age. Subsequent medical testing has revealed no medical reason for his emaciated condition other than forced starvation, and in fact, they say he has gained almost 9 pounds in the week that he has been in the care of the Humane Society.
Wilson was left tied to a fence near Lauzon Animal Hospital (at Lauzon and Tranby). As that area is fairly busy even at night, the Humane Society believes that he was left between midnight and 1:30am on Friday, April 26th.
Anyone with information about who may have neglected and then abandoned Wilson is asked to call the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society investigations department at 519-966-5751, ext 16 or Crimestoppers at 519-258-8477. You are not required to provide your name to make a report, and you may be eligible for a reward through Crimestoppers.
Anyone who would like to contribute to Wilson’s recovery is invited to donated to the Humane Society’s Pumpkin Fund.
