Not only did Carrie Underwood thrill a crowd of 7,157 at the WFCU Centre on Friday night, but the renowned singer/songwriter helped to donate almost $6,400 and a special prize to two local charities and was the subject of a People Magazine photoshoot.
“Not only will the fans in attendance remember [the] night for years to come but the event will have an impact on our community as a whole with the charitable causes we were able to support”, says the WFCU Centre’s General Manager of Events, Jason Toner.
Underwood’s attendance helped Global Spectrum to donate $1 for every ticket sold to the Red Cross, making the concert’s charitable contribution to the Red Cross at $6,359.
Global Spectrum and Carrie Underwood also donated an autographed vegan-friendly purse to the Celebrities Support Handbags for Healthcare program for the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation.
The Celebrities Support Handbags for Healthcare initiative is headed by a local non-profit group called the Do Good Divas. The group holds an annual “Diva Delights: A Girls Night Out in Handbag Heaven”, which supports community charities and foundations by auctioning handbags which have been donated by celebrities, designers, retailers and members of the community.
Friday’s concert also set two records for Windsor’s arena. The WFCU Centre says Carrie’s show now holds the record as the arena’s fastest sell out to date, as well as the record for the highest attendance for an end-stage concert at the WFCU Centre with 7,157 fans to witness Carrie’s amazing performance.
Underwood’s time in Windsor / at the WFCU Centre was also followed by People Magazine who photographed the star while preparing for her performance.
Photos from the Windsor shoot are expected to make it into next week’s People Magazine which hits the newsstands on Wednesday April 3rd.
