The City of Windsor is looking for comments and even a name for its proposed Climate Change Adaptation Plan, a component that falls under the City of Windsor’s Environmental Master Plan. The new adaptation plan will consider how the potential impacts of a changing climate will impact the residents of Windsor as well as municipal operations.

Dr. Gordon McBean, international authority on climate change, will be the key note speaker at a public meeting to be held at Ojibway Nature Centre on Thursday August 16th. Windsorites are invited to attend and will be able provide comments on the city’s draft plan. Dr. McBean will speak on Adapting to the Weather Extremes Ahead as the introduction to public comments on developing the Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the City of Windsor.

“We know that changes in the climate impact our community,” explains Karina Richters, Environmental Coordinator for the City of Windsor. “The City has identified steps to mitigate the impact of climate change, but much more needs to be accomplished.”

The Ojibway public meeting will open at 5:30pm and Dr. McBean will speak at 7pm.

As well, he public is invited to review Windsor’s draft Climate Change Adaptation Plan online and provide comment and a name for the plan at [email protected].

An information booth will also be open at Devonshire Mall on Saturday Auhust 18th and Sunday August 19th.
