A crowd gathered at The Room Nightclub (255 Ouellette) on Friday night to help Betrayer, one of the city’s longest-running acts, release their new self-titled album.
Opening was Diesel Junkies, who never fail to deliver an enthusiastic show while playing their catchy and groovy alt-rockish tunes.
Perpetuate played a set as well, a set of progressive metal that got fans all wound up for what was to come next.
Betrayer has been delivering old-school styled metal since 1996. This album is their first since an EP released in 2005, was recorded with the help of Glen Fricker at Spectre Sound Studios in 2009. For mixing and mastering the guys sent their work across the pond to have Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman. These guys have worked with the likes of In Flames, Arch Enemy, and Opeth, and Nordstrom is the guitarist for the metal band Dream Evil. The band has certainly put a lot of time and effort into this new release, and it certainly shows.
