Busy Night For Windor’s Fire Department

It started with a 9-1-1 call around 9:05pm Friday evening when someone reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of the townhouses on the south-west corner of the intersection of Lauzon and Hawthorne.
Right as the first of three responding engines arrived on scene, the original caller called back to report that the smoke he thought he saw was actually just a swarm of mosquitoes above the building.
That’s right around the time when the brunt of the thunderstorm struck the city, bringing non-stop ground level lightening strikes and torrential downpours with it. From that point on, pretty much every fire company in the city was dispatched to a unique call. Most calls were for transformer fires, downed hydro wires, downed large sized branches, and a building struck by lighting.
