The Windsor/Essex Humane Society is always in constant need of blankets/comforters/towels to line the kennels to keep their animals warm and cozy and they plan to launch a sewing club to meet this demand.
Initially their plans are to hold the blanket-making sessions once a month.
To gets things started, the Humane Society is looking to find a “Sewing Team Leader” who will be willing to oversee the activities of the team members, keep track of the activities, and complete the students’ volunteer log sheets. They are also looking for any individuals who have “portable” sewing machines they can easily transport and use on-site.
If physically making the beds doesn’t appeal to you but you still want to get involved, the Humane Society is also looking for donations of fleece (the brighter and more fun, the better), stuffing materials, scissors, thread and long rulers or measuring tapes. When dropping any of these items off at the Humane Society they ask that you make sure to mark your bag or box “Kennel Comforts” so that the materials don’t get lost among other donations.
