This weekend marks the return of the west-end open air exhibit, the Sandwich Towne Art Festival. MayWorks Windsor and Hanakaeye Photography are giving local artists an opportunity to kick of the 2010 festival season with this two-day event, beginning on Saturday with a unique Artist’s Parade.

The parade is set to kick off at 9am, starting from the intersection of Mill and Sandwich Streets. The artists will march down Sandwich and back again, to open up shop by 11am at the Petite Forest, the same location as last year’s Sandwich Revival Art Festival. The name is different this year, but the goal is the same. To celebrate Sandwich Towne’s heritage and culture through art and community.

After a call for artists released back in March, organizers were able to book more than a couple of our favourite Windsor artists. The festival will feature work by Jamie Baxter, Julie Belanger, Jerry Crosby, Amy Djarmocky/Ronnie Curry, Bethany Findlay, Chris Ford, Ashley Djarmocky/Tom Habernal, Lindsay Hanaka, Sergio Mazzotta, Monica Radulescu, Sandra Salden, Kathryn Tisdale, Nicole Vallance and Sarah Whittall.

In addition to the art show and sale, the festival will also have an entertainment lineup, with performances by Andy Probyn, Stonepiper, Jackie Robitaille and Same Latitude As Rome on Saturday. Visitors on Sunday will enjoy music by Alec Lauziere, Citizen Snake and to end the festival, Kenneth McLeod & The Windsor Salt Band. Performances will be begin each day at 1pm. The festival closes at 6pm on Saturday, and 5pm on Sunday.

Festival goers will enjoy food by Namaste Café and Co-op on Saturday and Atmosphere Catering/Fine Foods on Sunday. Admission to the show is free, so come on out Windsorites, and support your local art community!
