RABBIT TAILS & EASTER TRAILS – PERFECT PAIRINGS FOR EVERY BUNNY
Easter weekend is hopping ahead whether we want it to or not, and with Easter comes the fragrant scent of flowers in the air, delicious treats to fill our bellies and a chance to explore the outdoors after being cooped up for the winter. Peruse our Perfect Pairings for Every Bunny below and gather some ideas for how to celebrate Easter and the arrival of Spring with all of the chicks and bunnies in your life.
BASKETS & BIRDING
With the arrival of spring comes the arrival of many species of birds to Windsor Essex. Grab your binoculars and a note book and get outside to see how many you can spot. Ojibway Prairie Complex attracts large numbers of migrant warblers and other song birds. Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary is a great place to spend the afternoon feeding and interacting with waterfowl, hiking the 5km trail system and learning about the history of Jack Miner’s conservation efforts. Spring also ushers in the arrival of Farmers Markets, locally grown farm fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers and unique artisan foods: fill your basket at the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market beginning Saturday April 1st from 9am to 2pm and the Amherstburg Farmers Market at GL Heritage Brewing Co.
BUNNIES & BOUQUETS
Nothing says Easter quite like the Easter Bunny! Head to Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall for Easter Bunny Photos and a visit with the cuddly critter. A bright, beautiful Spring bouquet is the perfect addition to your Easter table and a great gift to brighten up the day for your host. Check out Colour Pop Florals for bouquets, vase arrangements and more! Why not combine bunnies and bouquets at Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens. Stop by the petting zoo and then pick up a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant on your way home!
(HOT CROSS) BUNS & BREWS
One of the warmest and most delicious Easter traditions is the Hot Cross Bun! Check out Iron Kettle Bread Boutique to get your hands on a few and be the hero of your dinner table! It might not be a traditional pairing, but any time we have an excuse to team up with local craft beer from the Barrel Bottles & Brews Trail we’ll do it! After all, buns and brews do share a few similar ingredients! We suggest the Purity Pilsener from Walkerville Brewery or Jack’s Golden Ale from Banded Goose Brewing Co.
CARROT CAKE & COFFEE
Easter is the perfect excuse to indulge in some sweets and our local bakeries will have scrumptious carrot cake options that every bunny will love. Pair a slice of carrot cake with locally roasted and brewed coffee from Anchor Coffee House or Chance Coffee for a delicious dessert, breakfast or anytime treat!
CHOCOLATE & CABERNET
We’re used to seeing chocolate everything throughout the Easter season and why not indulge in some delectable chocolate treats from Walker’s Fine Candies, in business since 1922, they know a thing or two about crafting a perfect truffle. They also feature fudge, peanut brittle and sundae toppings! Pair your fine chocolate with a Cabernet from one of our EPIC Wineries. Pelee Island Winery has several to choose from and Dancing Swallows Vineyard offers up their “C2” Cabernet.

DAFFODILS & DUNKS
Now is the perfect time to pick up some daffodils or daffodil bulbs at local garden centres like Cindy’s Home Garden & Gifts or Anna’s Garden, Home & Wellness. Brighten up your living space or plant some bulbs to cheer up your outdoor space as the temperatures climb. Kick off the Easter long weekend with slam-dunk action at the WFCU Centre when The Harlem Globetrotters come into town with a stop on their world tour.
EGGS & EXERCISE
Easter Egg Hunts, painting Easter Eggs and eating farms fresh eggs… Easter is as EGG-citing as you want to make it! Check out our Easter Guide for Easter Egg Hunts taking place throughout Windsor Essex. Stop by SKETCH Clay & Pottery to paint ceramic eggs, or maybe attempt to make your own on the pottery wheel! Drive through Essex County to purchase farm fresh eggs from many farmers and suppliers. After you’ve had your fill of eggs it’s time for some EGG-cercise in the parks and trails crisscrossing through YQG. Stroll the Riverfront Trail, explore the Chrysler Canada Greenway Trail or hike to the point at Point Pelee!
LAMB & LILY
Enjoy a delicious traditional Easter meal with fresh, local lamb from Ewe Dell Family Farms paired with a bold red from one of our EPIC Wineries. Start the meal off with a toast of Lily Sparkling wine from Colio Estate Wines. Don’t feel like being the chef this year? Head to Mettawas Station Italian Mediterranean Grill and enjoy roasted rack of lamb, marinated and grilled to perfection.
PIZZA & PEEPS
Everyone loves those tasty little Peeps Easter Treats, and we’re going to step outside of the pizza box a bit and suggest you pair your Peeps with world-famous Windsor pizza! Order in this Easter weekend from your favourite Windsor pizza place like Antonino’s Original Pizza, Armando’s and Oven 360
