The Windsor Police Service has a new partnership with Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) to support the mental health and wellbeing of our members and their families.
WWC offers cutting-edge group counselling programs and trauma-informed workplace training services clinically developed to address the unique needs of veterans, first responders and their family members. As part of this partnership, the Windsor Police Service will formally add WWC programs as an additional layer of operational stress injury support to its over 650 sworn and civilian employees.
The partnership will help members become aware of and gain access to WWC’s resources that support individuals, couples, spouses, surviving spouses, and children. This support will also include the Before Operational Stress (BOS) program, which brings together leading clinical approaches with recognized scientific expertise to support the psychological health and wellness of public safety personnel over the course of their operational careers.
“As members of a police service, we often help people who are in the midst of a mental health crisis. Unfortunately, we sometimes neglect or forget to look after our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of our colleagues. We are proud to partner with Wounded Warriors Canada and to leverage their expertise to ensure that our people have access to mental health support when they need it most,” said Chief Jason Bellaire, Windsor Police Service.
