An appliance that malfunctioned caused extensive damage to an Essex home.
Essex firefighters were called to the blaze in the 100 block of Oak Street early Wednesday morning and say that working smoke alarm’s alerted residents who evacuated.
Damage is set at $300,00 due to water line damaged from the appliance.
