Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 89 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday.
New & Total Cases
The Health Unit says 37 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 15 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, 2 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 34 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 21,827 on Tuesday November 30th to 21,916 on Wednesday December 1st.
There are 571 cases of COVID-19 that are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 38 since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):
- 334,267 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+544 since yesterday)
- 16,789 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+272 since yesterday)
- 317,478 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+272 since yesterday)
- 25,795 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,809 since yesterday)
- A total of 677,540 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,625 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 76.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 81.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 72.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 76.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 5.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.4 per cent since yesterday)
Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 471.

The Health Unit lists 23 hospitalizations today: 12 people in acute care (increase of 1), and 11 people in the ICU (increase of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
