The Town of Tecumseh is planning a three-day centennial celebration next year, and that means the Corn Festival will take another year off, with a planned return in 2023.

According to a report to Town Council, a Mayor’s Task Force is making plans for the Town’s 100th anniversary celebration, which will be held July 2nd to 4th 2022.

“As the planning, organizing, coordination and presentation of the Town’s 100th Anniversary event will take up substantial staffing resources and require financial support, it is recommended that this three-day event planned as the Towns 100th Anniversary Celebration be the Town’s major event for 2022,” said the report from Paul Anthony, Director Parks and Recreation Services.

As well as the July 2022 celebration, the 100th anniversary theme will be incorporated into all smaller Town events next year.

The Corn Festival was last held in 2019, after which a review of the programming was done. It hasn’t been held since due to the pandemic.
