A new partnership will see families receiving support at The Hospice, Erie Shores Campus enjoy home-cooked meals featuring fresh local produce.
Libro Credit Union and Lee and Maria’s have launched a partnership to provide produce boxes delivered free of charge weekly to the Erie Shores location of The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. Hospice volunteers can then turn the seasonal fruits and vegetables into meals for families with patients at the hospice.
“Libro Credit Union is passionate about supporting our communities – that is the essence of who we are at Libro,” said Lori Atkinson, Regional Manager, Community Banking at Libro Credit Union. “As a certified B Corporation, Libro uses all our resources to grow prosperity in southwestern Ontario, investing 100% of our profits into the people, businesses, and communities we serve.”
The roughly $1,200 donation is part of Lee and Maria’s Sponsor a Box program, which sees weekly customized produce boxes delivered to non-profit organizations across Windsor-Essex. Other program recipients include the Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRFYM) and the Ronald McDonald House – Windsor location.
“Traditionally, our subscription box members contribute to these donations, but thanks to the generosity of Libro Credit Union, we’re able to extend our support to The Hospice, Erie Shores Campus, a very deserving organization,” said Kathy Mastronardi-Black, Vice President of Market and Wholesale Sales.
The donation will see produce from over 20 farms across Windsor-Essex, and Chatham-Kent delivered to hospice.
“Choosing The Hospice as our next partner made perfect sense,” said Mastronardi-Black. “We currently support parents with children in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit through the Ronald McDonald House and young men who need a helping hand through the WRFYM. This donation completes the circle, supporting families with a loved one who is nearing their end-of-life.”
