Kautex Textron Workers Have Ratified A New Three-Year Collective Agreement

Unifor Local 195 workers at Kautex Textron have ratified a new three-year collective agreement by 90%. The 237 workers supply auto parts for the Ford Ranger, Chevy Equinox, Toyota RAV 4 and Lexus.
Highlights of the collective agreement include:
- Wage increases totalling 6.9% over the life of the agreement.
- Defined Benefit Pension Plan to $43.20 (was $41.50) times years of service.
- Defined Contribution Pension Plan, Employer contribution increased by 15%. Employee contribution $0.50 cents per hour for a new total of $2.76 per hour.
- Retirement Incentives of $25,000.00.
- Improvements to vision and paramedical mental health coverage .
- Orthodontics to $3250.00.
- Christmas Bonus in each year of the contract $470.00(net).
- Performance Bonus payment of $2750.00 upon ratification.
- Employees currently in the Progressive Wage Grid will be moved up by 2 years upon ratification. This move along with the across the board wage increases represents over a $6.00 per hour increase for all of these employees.
- $2.50 per hour upfront increase to Skilled Trades upon ratification.
- Enhancement to the Apprenticeship program with progressive wage starting at 80% of the trade’s wage and $1000 bonus upon completion of the Skilled Trades.
- Wages in 2 years under the new contract will be $25.44 / hour for an operator.
- Wages in 2 years under the new contract will be $36.43 / hour for a Skilled Trades.
- The union also successfully negotiated new Equity language for the women’s advocate.
“Despite very tough economic conditions and public health restrictions, our bargaining committee negotiated a very strong agreement. This agreement is one of the best agreements we have bargained this year,” said Unifor local 195 President Emile Nabbout.
