The Windsor Police Major Crimes and Arson Units are investigating a fatal house fire that took place Sunday night on Church Street.
Windsor firefighters were called to the 400 block of Church Street shortly before 9:30pm Sunday for reports of smoke and fire coming from a building.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire conditions upon arrival.
Within minutes, fire crews switched to an exterior attack and requested additional crews, calling in a third alarm.

A man and a woman were rescued from the home by firefighters and were taken to hospital where the man, a 59-year-old, later succumbed to his injuries.
The blaze was largely under control around 11:00pm.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate, and police say the Major Crimes Unit and Arson Unit are actively investigating.
Police are looking for the public’s help with information in relation to the incident. They say those in the area with surveillance cameras are requested to check the footage for any suspicious persons or activity around the time of the incident.
