195 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Monday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 195 new cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, bringing the local total to 4,763.

Cases increased from 4,568 on Sunday December 13th to 4,763 on Monday December 14th and 779 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health for Windsor says Windsor-Essex set a new record with Monday’s 195 new cases.

The Health Unit says they do not have a breakdown of cases today due to backlogs with case and contact management.

They say 3,893 people locally have recovered (an increase of 57 recoveries today).

There have no additional deaths from COVID-19 as of Monday and the local death toll stands at 91.

As of Monday, the Health Unit lists 53 hospitalizations: 42 people in acute care (an increase of 8 today), and 11 people in the ICU (an increase of 2 today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Thirty-three hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital, and less than five hospitalizations are listed at Erie Shores hospital in Leamington.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Monday, seven long-term care/retirement homes remain under outbreak:

  • Extendicare Tecumseh (Tecumseh) has 6 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 1 resident case and 1 staff case
  • The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 4 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Country Village (Woodslee) has 1 resident case and 2 staff case
  • Devonshire Retirement Residence (Windsor) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 21 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 1 resident cases and 2 staff cases

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Monday, the following workplaces remain under outbreak:

  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Leamington
  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Kingsville
  • 1 outbreak at a health care and social assistance workplace in Lakeshore
  • 1 outbreak at a finance and insurance workplace in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Windsor
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Kingsville
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Tecumseh

School Outbreaks

As of Monday, two schools remain under outbreak:
