Updated: Friday December 11th, 12:25pm: The outbreak at Windsor Regional Hospital has ended
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 111 new cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, bringing the local total to 4,453.
Cases increased from 4,342 on Thursday December 10th to 4,453 on Friday December 11th and 620 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 19 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 2 cases are community acquired, and 90 cases are still under investigation.
They say 3,747 people locally have recovered (an increase of 101 recoveries today).
There have been no deaths from COVID-19 as of Friday and the local death toll stands at 86.
As of Friday, the Health Unit lists 37 hospitalizations: 30 people in acute care (an increase of 5 today), and 7 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Twenty-four hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.
Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks
As of Friday, there is one new outbreak and seven long-term care/retirement homes remain under outbreak:
- The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 4 resident cases and 1 staff case (new outbreak today)
- Country Village (Woodslee) has 2 resident case and 2 staff case (1 new resident case, 1 new staff case)
- Devonshire Retirement Residence (Windsor) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
- Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 21 resident cases and 1 staff cases (10 new resident cases)
- Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 1 resident cases and 2 staff cases (1 new resident case)
- Chartwell Royal Oak Residence (Kingsville) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases
- Leamington Mennonite (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases
- Riverside Place (Windsor) has 17 resident cases and 4 staff cases
