Work has started on a $2.5 million upgrade on Banwell Road between Tecumseh Road East and Palmetto Street.
The work includes widening to two lanes in each direction, separated by a median, construction of new concrete sidewalks and Multi Use Trail, new asphalt and the installation of street lighting and traffic signals.
The storm sewer and drainage will also be upgraded and most of the road side-ditches will be closed.
“The Banwell Road Corridor Improvement Project is yet another example of how council and administration are fulfilling our promise to fix Windsor’s roads,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “The widening of Banwell Road will improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, cut travel times and increase active transportation for residents while meeting our growing transportation needs long into the future.”
Work is expected to take three months.
