As summer winds down, The Hospice Of Windsor & Essex County is revving up with a fresh fundraiser.
Officially starting on Monday, August 15, the organization’s ninth annual Face to Face Campaign is an easy way to make a difference. With canvasser kits available at The Hospice’s Wellness Centre reception area (6038 Empress Street) those interested in participating are simply asked to have 10 friends donate $10.00 each.
Casey’s Grill Bar (4115 Walker Road) one of the campaign’s sponsors, hosted their canvasser kick-off event last Thursday, August 11 for the first wave of participants. They enjoyed free appetizers and live music by Paul Beresford as event coordinator Erica Colovic informed and recruited those in attendance.
With roughly 260 canvassers last year, the organization exceeded their goal of $50,000 by raising over $53,000. This year The Hospice is looking to enlist the help of 500 people to nearly double that amount.
“Just think what type of results we can achieve if 500 people help us this year,” said Colovic in a Hospice press release. “I am SURE we can reach that canvasser goal and therefore raise the highest amount for the campaign to date.”Refered to as the “easiest fundraiser around” by The Hospice, those canvassing have six weeks to get the required amount of pledges from friends and family. Company and team challenges are also encouraged – being the largest community-based palliative care facility in Canada, The Hospice’s programs and services rely heavily on local fundraisers.
