Putting in eight hours or more of work within the confines of a cubicle or enclosed office space is quickly becoming a thing of the past. On the rise is a new work norm that is spearheading how individuals tap into productivity and creativity in the 21st century.
What is this new way of the daily grind, you wonder.
Working remotely – more specifically, away from the office in any capacity, not just on a beautiful resort or cozy cabin – is winning the popularity contest. Meanwhile, the cubicle jungle is flirting with the endangered ‘work environment’ list.
Nevertheless, this isn’t a competition between open and enclosed workspaces. Instead, work has become more and more about flexibility.
For instance, according to an article by Geoffrey James on Inc., 83 per cent of workers don’t think they need to be in an office to be productive, while 38 per cent say they would enjoy their job more if they were allowed to work remotely.
But wait! Don’t underestimate where you choose to work remotely.
The Location
Local coffee shops have been the hub for work-related meet-ups since the beginning of coffee shops. However, not all business is appropriate for your local Tim Horton’s or Starbucks.
If you are looking to bring your clients, colleagues, or partners somewhere less stuffy than an office, bring them to your Club.
- The inspiring backdrop.
The patio and waterfront view of the Detroit skyline is there for your enjoyment. The large wrap around patio allows Members the space they need to be out in the open while indulging in the privacy an office would allow. Even in Winter, the view is still captivating.
- Foster existing relationships.
Some days you want to be left to your work and other days you want to be social. For the business professional, 75 per cent say they build more meaningful bonds with co-workers and clients during social interactions. Even better, 95 per cent say face-to-face meetings are the key to creating long lasting business relationships.
- Spark new connections and collaborate with others.
Don’t let the digital age take away from the importance of face-to-face get-togethers. When it comes to negotiations and productive ideas, 87 per cent are generated during in-person meetings. So, put aside that laptop and start brainstorming ideas over a hot plate of something delicious in one of our meeting spaces, a quiet corner in our dining room, or wherever you feel the most inspired.
