Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is honouring Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario by announcing a partnership with the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and the Hiatus House.
They say that on any given day in Canada, more than 3,000 women, along with their 2,500 children are living in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence.
Both organizations will each receive $3,000 to assist in individuals and their families in ending the cycle of homelessness, poverty and violence.
“This is just one of the initiatives of supporting our community partners that you will be hearing about over the next few months, explained Janice Kaffer, President and CEO. This work is a small example of how we live our vision of cultivating a healthier community each day here at HDGH.”
The grant will be annually dispersed to both organizations in accordance to a selection process that the Welcome Centre and Hiatus House will complete. The goal of this grant is to provide individuals or families that are starting over with a little extra help. Whether it is new clothes for a job interview, money for education or even help with their rent, this grant has been created to help give these individuals a helping hand when they need it.
