Windsor Regional Hospital is one step closer to making a decision for the location of the new mega hospital.
The site selection subcommittee has come up with a “consensus” picking five properties out of 20 that were put forward when the process began.
These short-listed properties will now be invited to move to Phase 2 of the process, which involves intense due diligence with things like soil samples and price.
“We want to move through the process as quickly as possible, but it is not a race,” says Windsor Regional Hospital President and CEO David Musyj, who co-chairs the Steering Committee overseeing the new hospital project. “We are all eager to learn where the new hospital will be built, but a decision of this magnitude requires the utmost due diligence. In the meantime, we continue with the planning required to eventually design and build a new state-of-the-art acute care hospital,” he says.
Due to the business interest of all involved, Windsor Regional Hospital says that they can not comment further on the location or number of properties moving forward, until the site selection process is complete, and a final site is recommended.
If all goes well, they say that a site could be announced by summer.
