The John R. Park Homestead museum will recreate holiday traditions featured in the Kingdom of Arendelle at the Frozen in Time Holiday special event, this Sunday from noon to 4pm.
“Our December event is always great fun,” says Kris Ives, Curator/Education Coordinator. “This year, we’re featuring Scandinavian traditions that guests may recognize from the movie, including Norwegian Fjord horses, ice house and blacksmithing demonstrations.”
The tabletop Christmas tree will be adorned with beeswax candles, and an array of traditional gifts can be found under its boughs. Visitors can make their own woven paper heart to take home – a craft invented by Hans Christian Andersen. During the event, the Friends of the Homestead will be hosting their annual fundraising bake sale, and the museum shop offers unique locally-made gift items.
Queen Elsa and Princess Anna will also make a special appearance at the event. “We are so excited to welcome these beautiful princesses to our site from 1pm – 3pm to interact with the children and take photographs,” says Ives. “We will are also eager to hear Elsa sing at 1:30pm and 2:30pm.”
