Ontario Trillium Grants Help Local Nonprofits

The Ontario Trillium Foundation announced new investments in several local nonprofits.
The Windsor Residence Inc., as lead organization on this collaborative will receive $210,900 over 36 months to support the Housing First Youth Support Team by funding the salary of a Housing First Youth Support Worker. This staff member will assist youth in finding housing, and building skills and support networks.
The Welcome Centre Shelter for Women will receive $332,400 over 60 months to hire a full-time Community Awareness Coordinator to oversee the community awareness and engagement strategies, which will support the long-term sustainability of the organization and the vital services that it provides to the Windsor-Essex community.
Legal Assistance of Windsor will see $194,400 over 36 months to develop a coordinated and seamless community-led response to the needs of victims of sex-trade, forced marriage and human trafficking in Windsor-Essex County.
Farmstart will receive $115,500 over 12 months to increase opportunities for young people and newcomers to Canada to explore farming as a career in the Chatham-Kent region. Grant funds will be used to consult with potential partners and assess the needs of local new farmers, to develop a program that will help the younger generation of farmers diversify and innovate, adopting new and ecological production systems and to access new local food and niche markets.
Windsor Pride Community will get $100,000 over 24 months to fund the salary of an executive director, who will work to diversify and increase the funding base for Windsor Community Pride. This staff member will also work to ensure that the organization is meeting the demand for LGBT services in the community.
The Windsor Youth Centre will receive $149,300 over 12 months to renovate and enhance the Centre’s building, which will help the organization to increase the number of homeless and at-risk youth who have access to supportive programming and services.
