Three Cyclists Hit By Cars Wednesday

Three cyclists were hit by cars Wednesday in different accidents.
The first happened at 11:45am at the intersection of Grand Marais Rd and McKay Avenue. Police issued a ticket to a 65-year-old driver for making an unsafe turn. The driver was turning left from Northbound McKay onto Grand Marais when the cyclist was struck. A 71-year-old cyclist sustained minor injuries.
The second happened an hour later at the intersection of Wyandotte Street East and Buckingham Blvd. A 51-year-old driver was intending to turn West onto Wyandotte Street when he struck a cyclist who was riding east on the north side of the roadway. The accident is still under investigation. Police are contacting an independent witness for a statement who could not remain at the scene but left his information. The Cyclist sustained minor injuries.
Then at approximately 5:45pm a cyclist struck at the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Highland Avenue. Police issued a ticket to a 22-year-old driver of a bicycle for failing to yield to traffic. The cyclist sustained minor injuries. The cyclist was riding North across Tecumseh Road and drove into the side of a motor vehicle that was driving in the turning lane, turning from Tecumseh Road onto Highland.
Police remind motorists and cyclists to adhere to the rules of the road and to pay particular attention when approaching intersections.
