The coroner’s office has ordered an inquest into the death of an inmate in Windsor.
Thirty-four year old Kendra Blackbird died on October 1st, 2012, while she was an inmate at the Windsor jail.
She was found unresponsive in her cell and died two days later.
Regional Supervising Coroner Dr. Rick Mann announced the inquiry, which is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Blackbird’s death and may look at creating recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last five days, beginning Monday, August 11th, will hear from approximately 25 witnesses.
